Exodus:
Preparing a People
The wilderness can be a tough place. The harsh elements and unpredictable dangers. Yet, there is much we can learn about ourselves in this vast expanse. Long ago, God liberated His chosen people from generations of slavery. But as amazing as that story is, it was only the beginning. God would lead the people to the Promised Land, but before they could arrive, they had to be prepared. Here is the story of a people who wandered the wilderness. Here is a story of a people who faced great adversity. Here are a people who failed. Here is the story of a people who were saved in more ways than one.
Perhaps you find yourself in a wilderness, lost and looking for peace, comfort and truth. God often uses the wilderness to prepare His people. Let’s enter the wilderness and join the journey of a people in preparation. Perhaps we too need to be prepared for something great.

Memorize This!:
Colossians 3:1-17
Memorizing scripture may not seem as important a skill at it once was, given that we can all have Bibles in our pockets via our smartphones… in multiple translations, no less! But if we can rediscover scripture memorization as a spiritual discipline that brings us closer to God and actually changes us from the inside out, then it is like finding a lost treasure.

Memorizing a large and theologically rich portion of scripture like Colossians 3:1-17 doesn’t just strengthen our memory muscles; it works its way into our very being. It’s a fun challenge that we can encourage one another to take on over the summer as we spend each week on a smaller portion of this important passage.

Pentecost & Graduation Sunday:
Pentecost commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ while they were in Jerusalem celebrating the Feast of Weeks. This important event in the Christian faith is described in the Acts of the Apostles (Acts 2:1–31), the fifth book of the New Testament of the Bible.
